Food for Needy Oregonians
At the Somali Oregon Service Center (SOSC), we are committed to addressing food insecurity within the Somali and African communities across Oregon. As part of our ongoing efforts to support families in need, we provide twice-monthly food distribution to households facing food insecurity.
In partnership with the Oregon Food Bank, SOSC distributes food boxes on the second and last Tuesday of every month. These boxes include a variety of essentials, such as fresh produce, canned goods, grains, and other staples designed to meet the dietary needs of the communities we serve.
How It Works:
- Distribution Days: Food boxes are available on the second and last Tuesday of every month.
- Who Benefits: Over 30 households in need benefit from this program at each distribution, helping families ensure they have enough food to feed their loved ones.
- Where: SOSC provides food distribution at our center, located at 1511 SE 122nd Ave, Portland, OR 97233.
This program has a significant impact on the community, helping families maintain their health and well-being during challenging times. We understand that access to food is essential for a thriving community, and through our food distribution program, we aim to ease the burden of food insecurity for those in need.
